I find it difficult to do any analysis of what Anglu was trying to do throughout the programme.

I could only detect a series of absurd mistakes (VAT), absence of ideas (the justice system), incoherent thoughts (making the economy grow, the minimum and living wages) and half-baked proposals (water tariffs).

Anglu is a DISASTER. Labour is a DISASTER.

Let’s get a few things out of the way first: Anglu is a prize idiot. I mean he really, really, is incredibly stupid.

Now for the technical bits, which he or his party obviously don’t understand.

The government is having to bail out Water Services Corporation because – wait for it – water tarifs are at below market prices, so WSC is obviously making a loss. It has to pay for the electricity it uses, just like you and me and Anglu. And its only revenue comes from metered water bills.

By reducing electricity tarifs, i.e. subsidising them, the government will only be using up more public money. If water tarifs are also reduced, WSC’s revenue will dry up to a trickle. And the government will have to increase its subsidy.

I’ve been harping on about the evils of subsidies even since I got my first pubic hair. In three months, the cycle which PN is (slowly) trying to break will be back again, larger, heavier, and more expensive than before. And how do you fund subsidies? Why, by increasing government revenue, of course. And where does government revenue come from? That’s right: taxation.

To recap: lower utility tarifs = higher taxes.

Those tarifs must go UP, not down. Of course the European Commission bears out this view, but who’s listening? Not Anglu.
