Yesterday the portal http://www.myenergymalta.com published steel prices and the average price (euro per tonne) went from 644 in August 2011 to 583 in September 2012.

In his reply Minister Fenech stated that “Conveniently Mr Conrad Mizzi presented a chart to support his argument that is up to September 2012.

We are January 2013, in 3 and a half months the world has changed a bit and prices are on the rise again. Prices are on the rise again and are expected to continue rebounding on the back of an improving Chinese economy which consumes 50% of the world demand.

If the European and the American economies rebound, as expected, then the decline in prices experienced last year will be reversed completely soon.”
