Putin recently delivered a speech warning Europe not to invest in shale gas, using the environment argument. Putin (and Russia) of all people / countries! They have the worst environment record.

He wants 60% of Europe to remain dependent on his Gazprom and threaten them to cut off the supplies in the middle of winter, like he did a few years ago when the Europeans were supporting the democracy movement in Ukraine.

Putin and Russia have a huge stake in the energy dependency of Europe (central and eastern countries, Greece and parts of Italy) that he indirectly controls the bloc’s economic and foreign policies.

As an expert in shale gas (yes, that too) I must wade in.

There are other countries beside the US which have developed the shale gas industry.

In Europe, there is Poland. In the rest of Europe, tree-hugging ideological reactionary nonsense science has killed the debate in its cradle.

These were the very same tree-huggers, by the way, who thought the sun shone out of Obama’s arse and that he was the Black Messiah. The extraction of shale gas on massive scales, and the consequent re-industrialisation saved America’s “ass” and saved Obama’s presidency, making it look as if he turned the economy round with eco-liberalism. Like hell he did.

Anyway, yes, I too am infuriated by the absolute tosh that is being sold as science back in Malta. For the love of god, I call upon Maltese scientists, engineers, esperti, ANYONE, to speak up. You have all brought shame upon your profession and your ridiculous titles.
