They just can’t understand that ‘man does not live by bread alone’.

That’s why the new power station and the (promised) reduction of energy bills made such a hit. They couldn’t be bothered whether this is feasible and/or if so at what cost and under what circumstances.

So yes, as you put it, if one “can’t grasp the significance of that, then start worrying about your IQ, (besides worrying about theirs)”.
