Isn’t he the one who was given a prime location in Republic Street to carry on the business of running a pharmacy, once that he owned in City Gate square had to be closed down because of the Piano project there?

Apart from the fact that the words ‘Potemkin Village’ flashed right before my eyes, I could not notice the disconnect between the well oiled, coordinated team around Muscat, while this crowd was delivering a ‘Taghna lkoll’ (without Malta) chant accompanied to the sound of clapping and stamping of feet.

They sounded like a Zulu war band on the run.

And the bit about the upside down flag was classic Monty Python hilarity. Would have fitted in nicely in Spamalot.

It was one of those rare moments in my family where we were all watching the same clip at the same time.

Our reaction was: ‘Ara x’gej ghalina hmistax ohra!’

How can we be such a stupid nation?
