I am a Manchester United fan but he is not going to tell me how to vote in my own country. I would like to think that we Maltese, whether Man U fans or ABUs, would not let ourselves be influenced in the remotest possible way by a man from Govan, on who we should choose to lead our country for the next five years. We are Maltese first and foremost.

It is a very well known fact that Ferguson has been a lifelong Labour supporter and that it was a British Labour government led by Tony Blair who put forward his name for knighthood when Man Utd won the treble in 1999.

This is what the The Record and The Mail had to say on Ferguson’s political views:

That leaflet is not worth the paper it is written on. It would not influence one single vote in Malta’s general election.
