You can still comment on an article even if you can only see the first few lines, so comments will now be based on people only reading part of an article (which is probably no different to now in many cases)

I too will be refusing to pay any subscription fee to the Times of Malta. Their journalistic standards and tolerance towards inane comments on their comments boards (or blokks as people call them) is absolutely terrible.

I can put €156 per annum to much better use than to paying for their pitiful service.

It says “For €2.99 per week, premium quality will include the e-paper, a full digital version of the printed newspaper, the historical archives that date back to the newspaper’s inception in 1935, a tablet and smartphone version for better functionality and blogs. The subscription will also give people browsing the site from overseas full access to timesofmalta.com.”

Meaning that the blogs will be available to those who pay Euro 2.99 per week.

I have got many better uses for my Euro 2.99 per week.

I stopped bothering to read the Times, except sometimes when you post a link to an article. They can go have a bath. I’ve long resented their arrogance. They stopped publishing my comments after the recent elections – seems they only want brainless remarks pouring praise on the freeloaders.

If I am not mistaken, the link below explains that the only thing different will be that those who pay can have an e-newspaper and can access the archives but those who do not pay can still visit the site and comments

Following this week’s disgusting comments published online, it’s the least they could do.

No official apology from the editor to the families of the perished as yet.

It’s absolutely incredible how this newspaper has aligned itself to the lowest pervasive level amplifying the bile.
