What a chain of fucking idiots. From the minister right down to the reporter all the way to the editor. A place cannot “host” a garden, as if it were a person or an event. What an giant twerp.

And “support”? The Chinese Garden in Santa Lucia wasn’t built “with Chinese support”. It was built by China, fullstop.

If anything, it was Malta that gave its support, by giving its (overly) enthusiastic approval and then easing the long and difficult administrative process (because, as with all Chinese projects, there were some very weird strings attached).

Finally, ambassadors don’t conduct official visits. They are mere representatives of their state, not stand-ins for their heads of state or government. And no one can conduct “an official visit to Gozo”, because Gozo is not a separate state. It is part of Malta (and two fingers to all Gozitan nationalists).

But this is Malta, where people believe the Earth is flat, so move along, nothing to see here.
