Even though many of us gays do not agree with gay marriages or partnerships we still support your right to marry your longtime companion. It is called solidarity.

The “roadmap” mentions the consultative committe on LGBT in paragraph 7 within Chapter 6 ‘Nemmnu f’Socjeta Gusta’ (We believe in a fair society). It is set out under the sub-heading ‘Rispett lejn id-Diversita.’

Under the same subheading, in paragraph 11, the “roadmap” says that: “Permezz ta’ aktar kampanji edukattivi, l-aktar sa mic-ckunija ta’ wliedna, nedukaw aktar dwar id-diversita u kontra l-pregudizzji u r-razzizmu, filwaqt li niggieldu l-bullying, reati ta’ mibgheda (hate crimes) inkluz dak minhabba orjentazzjoni sesswali, razza, etnicita u kulur tal-gilda.” (Through educational campaigns, we will educate, especially from the early years in childhood, about diversity and against prejudice and racism, while resisting bullying and hate crimes, including those related to sexual orientation, race, ethnicity and colour.)

The statement issued by the LGBT Consultative Committee should be seen in this context.
