When the Church and politicians as Dr Fenech Adami speak of “Maltese values” I think that they mean something different forn the above video. Similarly when intellectuals as Prof O. Friggieri and the late Prof Fr P. Serracino Inglott spoke of culture they also meant something completely different.

It is appalling. But shockingly normal in Malta. L-iktar poplu generuz my arse. I still remember kids from my shit-neighbourhood poking fun at this mentally handicapped middle-aged man who lived there, calling him “l-iblah”.

That’s how bad it was.

It’s the kind of horrific memory that stays with you all your life. Not the sort of childhood memories that inspire love for my own people.
