Speaking of the Falklands, some less bright Spaniards are talking about establishing an alliance with Argentina to 'simultaneously recapture both their rightful territories'. Though a Spanish friend of mine swears it's just a ploy to draw attention away from the totally messed up financial situation.

Imo, we should not ponder too much on what a private individual says or writes. More so, if what he writes, exposes him for a stupid idiot. Or worse, as greedy and selfish, saying anything to advance his personal interests, at the expense of others. We say, “Nehqa ta’ hmar, qat ma telet is-sema.

But it gets very serious, if that person is a public person, in key positions. Throughout history, these persons had the power to bring countries to war, misery and ruin.

I auger that the British MEP and EU commissioner are not unduly deterred by idiotic comments. If they cannot stand the heat, they should not be in the kitchen.

Sadly, economic recession is usually accompanied by heightened nationalism. If the 20s and 30s are anything to go by, we may have a big problem on our hands.
