What’s with these PL people? Such impossibly low standards. Natius is a mayor and he makes lots of grammatical and spelling mistakes while writing a simple sentence. How can the villagers elect him, when he can’t even speak or write good English or Maltese?

In reply to Catsrbest. It's a Maltese saying and actually an often used one. Although I've often heard it in the plural, ie rabatlu/rabtilha l-ktieli rather than rabatlu/rabtilha l-kitla. [Daphne - Exactly, because it's a reference to a man's family jewels, not the thing in which water is boiled.]
