It has been said that that it is planned to locate the monument ‘somewhere close to his birthplace.’ Thank God for that. I would be sorely tempted to become a vandal if it was placed anywhere that I might see it on a regular basis.

I think that the appropriate figure for Dom’s monument would be a large erect penis to symbolise how he f*cked Malta over.

Have you noticed that the site for the monument is going to be kept secret until it is unveiled?

That is done so so that nobody can protest against the imposition but only wake up to find it there.

Because Lawrence Gonzi was at Mintoff’s funeral. Because Maltese politicians are spineless. Because the PN Opposition is just like the rest of Malta – it thinks the dead become saints. Because the PN Opposition thinks that “constructive opposition” means you agree with everything.

Yes, Simon Busuttil will be at the unveiling ceremony, along with everyone else. The handful of us who elected the PN from Strickland onwards will be seething, but then the PN no longer speaks for us.

Usually monuments to politicians are placed 10 or so years after the person’s death.

In that way many people would have forgotten the ‘misdeeds’ of that particular person and no hearts would be hurt, but in Malta we do things differently it seems.

The PL tends to push down one’s throats their ideas irrespective of the people’s feelings.
