At a charity dinner Gorge Bernard Shaw was stuck next to a pigeon-brained actress who annoyed him by her silly chatter. GBS asked the babbling actress if she would spend the night with him for a million GBS to which she unhesitatingly replied “Of course, yes”. GBS next asked her if she would do it for a fiver to which she indignantly replied “Of course not. What do you think I am?”. GBS crushing reply was “We have already established that, Madam.. We are only haggling about your price”.

There is another thing the Malta Labour Party probably hasn’t thought about in relation to scheme for selling Maltese passports.

Applicants pay Euro 650,000. The spouse of the applicant pays Euro 25,000.

This is going to give rise to a lot of convenience marriages, whereby anyone coming to Malta will find another person – same sex if need be – get married, and get two passports for the price of Euro 675,000 rather than Euro 1.3 million, saving Euro 625,000. Once they get the passports, they can file for divorce.

With Euro 625,000 in their pockets, this leaves the applicants with lots of scope for bribery and corruption.
