The prime minister is working in China’s interests. Why expect his envoy to do otherwise, whatever passport she holds?

Chinese are, above all, Chinese, so it’s obvious for what side she will be working. If the PL “believes” it will be different, they are very inexperienced in dealing with Asian countries.

You are what you are born and raised, and that is where our loyalties lie. Sai Laing is Chinese, no matter what passport she holds.

What irks me and worries me is the sheer hypocrisy of those who, until a year ago, were screaming nepotism at Gonzi and his team.

I challenge PL apologists to tell me how THEY would have reacted had Gatt’s wife been appointed as an envoy to anything or anywhere with a good salary to boot. I am invariably met with blank stares.

I mention Dr Gatt because he was the bete noir (for PL) but it could have been anybody. Their silence is pregnant with meaning. And yet they would have just said, only moments before, that “she is qualified”.

Somebody else yesterday (a switcher) turned to me for comfort. He has been scorned. Big time. He just found out that Malta mhux veru taghna lkoll.

I simply told him (much as I am loath to say it): what did I use to tell you? His reply: L-ohrajn mhux hekk kienu jaghmlu? To which I retorted: but you voted for change.

The voters here are so brainless and brainwashed that they cannot be critical of what is going on and they defend the trampling of what is, in essence, democracy with tenuous and puerile arguments which, to them, are gospel truth and perfect logic. This, for me, is the most worrying aspect.

He may still have a Maltese passport. It’s a bit of a grey area, from what I hear.
