It is true that most men still adopt this caveman approach to “admiring” women. However it is also a fact that, this type of behaviour still reigns because it is encouraged by women themselves whether subliminally or not. Sometimes they don’t admit it but it is evident that some women think that such attitudes are attributed to “charm”.

The term “gonzo” was coined by the great, the one, the sadly missed Hunter S. Thompson, who is up there in my Pantheon, Great Writers section, between Knut Hamsun and Arthur Rimbaud. It refers to a style of journalism where the journalist himself or herself is part of the story.

Use of the term has spilled over into pornography, where it refers to what is best-termed as “broadcast self-voyeurism”. Such as attaching wearing a helmet cam while the 11:57 arrives at Paddington.

I hope that clarifies matters in a not too vulgar way.
