I do feel rather mixed up.

How are the PL members of parliament feeling?

They have berated the Opposition in and out of parliament for opposing this law, ridiculed their proposed amendments and derided them as ‘negative’.

They voted to pass the law as presented in a rush. Now if and when it is amended and is presented again in parliament, are they going to admit that they were wrong? How are they going to vote?

Joseph Muscat is running the risk of being struck off the electoral register since he is not in Malta for the time required by law to have the vote.

The Labour Party once attempted to deprive me of my right to vote because I had been in Sicily for a week and someone at the airport failed to stamp my passport on returning to Malta.

I wasted a day in court to claim my right.

Seriously, all this travelling is just getting ridiculous. I don’t think there has ever been a Maltese prime minister who travelled so much in such a short time.

Many people claim that they will tour the world if they ever win the lottery. As far as Joseph Muscat is concerned, he’s just won the lottery. In Michelle Muscat’s words, he’s “really making the most of these five years.”

I hope the opposition and the press are keeping a record of the prime minister’s travels, expenses and benefits Malta is deriving (or not) from them.

Just for comparative purposes, look at the list of countries visited by the President of the United States of America since getting re-elected. Seven countries in 2012 and eleven in 2013 (with a planned Asian trip being cancelled due to the United States government shutdown). That’s the most powerful country in the world.
