Since then his popularity has gone down steadily because the people are not impressed by his political performance. His private life, which he imposed on France by declaring his mistress the First Lady of the country, only to dismiss her for another mistress shortly afterwards, has been shocking even by French tolerant standards in this regard.

His endorsement of Joseph Muscat can hardly be a good omen.
