After humouring myself with this article and subsequent very uninformed humorous comments by the sudditi of Daphne who sit prettily behind their laptops and do what they love most, (read traditional maltese scaremongering), I will happily send my kids to a nun’s school where rigidity excels and no extracurricular activities including field outings and the creative arts are actively encouraged. Alas, thanks to people who write these articles and comments in a classical very very maltese frame of mind, name dropping without a reason, students will be barred from developing their talents to the full, whatever these may be. . Do journalists have a code of ethics in Malta I wonder? On what basis are these teachers being mentioned? What exactly have they done?Does Daphne know them? Scaremongering behind a nickname and putting talented and incredibly dedicated teachers in an embarassing situation is not done in any serious developed country. I would strongly recommend to you all to take time off from sitting behind your expensive hardware and take a trip to Vienna, London, Florence, Milan…. And visit some schools and speak to students too whilst you are there. You would be amazed at how much you would learn from our next generation thanks to teachers who actively work to help them grow holistically. Then again i am sure non of you will, the couch is too tempting :)

It’s not fair to judge all teachers in the same way.

Most of us are hard working and at times we go out of our way to support and help our pupils. But I fully agree that even though we have a right to a private life, we are still role models to those we teach.

And the majority of us do this even during social events which we organise amongst ourselves as all other working communities do.
