CNN is also saying that it expects the US and other Western countries to impose sanctions on Russia already as from tomorrow.

Sanctions are most likely to include visa restrictions.

Will Joseph Muscat’s government be complying with those sanctions?

Or will Joseph Muscat be taking the opportunity to circumvent any US and European visa restrictions on Russian passport holders by urging Henley & Partners to sell more EU passports in Russia, using the fast tracking option if possible?

I don’t think that Xarabank discussed the current situation in the Ukraine, did they? Shouldn’t the Maltese public know where our government stands on this issue which affects us as Europeans and which could affect our security?

On the one hand, the international community led by the democratic West is asking Russia to respect the international law and Ukraine’s constitution. On the other hand, Russia is interfering with the internal affairs of the Ukraine.

At the UN Security Council, Russia vetoes a resolution which condemns the Crimean referendum. China abstains.

Meanwhile, in September last year, China’s President Xi Jinping told a conference hall in a Kazakhstan University:

“On the issues concerning the major core interests, including the state sovereignty, territorial integrity, security and stability, we should firmly support each other and make joint efforts to crack down on the “three evil forces” of terrorism, extremism and separatism, as well as drug trafficking, transnational organized crime. ”
