You would think: if that were the case, after watching her jump off the cliff and fall to her demise, (as he said, his unfaltering, superhuman night vision permitted him to see her body 40 metres below at 4/5am in complete darkness) he would at least aim to jump towards her in order to fulfill this morbid wish, not jump at a totally different angle, which inevitably would effect him to land a fair distance away from her.
