Interesting language evolution there. In Russian, your phrase would mean “I do not mean”. In Belarusan, however, it’s “I do not understand”, just like Polish.

I speak Russian not Polish, I guess the fist person singular in Polish ends in -iem not -yu, like in Russian.

PBS already had among its employees linguistically-challenged presenters and newscasters but now they are surpassing themselves — a no mean feat.

As a listener to Campus FM, a radio station run by the University of Malta, I’m also not impressed by the linguistic prowess of most of the academic staff who present programmes on that station.
