I refer to the rumours about her attempt on his marriage years back.

It’s bad enough that we have a prime minister who chooses to run the country with the ‘tar-rahal’ mentality, putting private matters before public, and sending his wife instead of him.

The President does not book flight tickets – there are people on her staff who are responsible for doing that.

So it is either a case of incompetent staff who were unable to book her a same-day return ticket OR as you Daphne have indicated a bare faced lie by Madam President.

If she wanted to be present for the canonisation and also attend tomorrow’s 9.00am meeting with the UNCHR she could have taken these flights :

(a) From Rome Fiumicino to Milano Linate with Alitalia at 17.00hrs arriving in Linate at 18.10

(b) Air Malta flight from Milano Linate to Malta leaving at 21.20 and arriving in Malta at 23.15 (which in fact has landed already at 23.05)
