It’s ridiculous that politicians in Malta have Facebook profiles at all! They should have Facebook PAGES updated by staff which people can follow.

That eliminates the confusion and awkwardness of voters thinking that they are ‘friends’ with politicians or the head of state, because their friend request was accepted.

Considering Facebook is so popular on this island you’d think that most people, particularly those in the public eye, would have figured out how to use it correctly.

The President needs to be very careful with respect to who is posting what on her Facebook page.

For example, this:

“Alby J Mamo: the best thing that can happen to these illegal ferals invaders is to tow them back to sea or simply load on a plane off they go to where the hell they came from
20 May at 17:57”

I am astounded that a Head of State allows that sort of dialogue to be published on their Facebook page (whether public or private) for the world to see.

Is this her own opinion on migrants or what ?
