If the government continues at this rate for the whole year, it will add up half a billion (“hames mitt miljun” or “nofs elf miljun”) of annual deficit this year alone.

Now for some quick math. The deficit was Eur 132 million in Q1 2014. Deficit for corresponding period last year (Q1 2013): Eur 107 million. That’s almost 25% increase in the deficit. By any standard, that’s an explosion in the deficit.
