All over news networks that transmit interviews with students, workers and the lay people of China come up with the same stories of oppression. Students join the communist party, first to make it possible for them to gain entry. Then if some of the students are earmarked as poets, orators, writers, they are immediately seen to by the Party which entices them to write in favour of the regime and compare the “happy” state of China to the woes of the West. No one would find a job unless and until such time as one joins the Party. When they do join they find that the next step to climb is the greasing of palms in golden handshakes.Unbelievable, some of the stories do take us back to times worse than the dark ages. What boggles my mind is how could people live under such conditions ? The answer is in icon Tianamen Square.
