Fast forward 42 years and we find the same sitcom being enacted with different actors; Joseph Muscat taking a long hike to China (since Libya is in a big mess and therefore unable to help Muscat out of his own mess) asking begging the Chinese government to bail him out of his self-created mess, collapsing exports, exploding deficit, and all this after seeing the passport prostitution scheme fizzling out, the oil drilling rig hitting a void and John Dalli’s expertise in finance being lost due to his routing by Barroso’s defence speech.

China talked about the services that Malta can offer Chinese interests in the Mediterranean, as well as the scope for collaboration in the energy sector, especially alternative energy sources.

We also signed an agreement with the central Chinese authorities the objective of which is improving long term relations between the two countries.
