Ah so when the PM said he will not put all his (Manuel’s?) eggs in one basket, he probably meant we will have bi-lateral agreements with more than one corrupt and tyrannical country. Got it. So who is next? Afghanistan? Nah we got that one already. Iraq perhaps?

This news item reminded me of this other agreement from September 2013.

Oh, I see – that agreement was also described as “groundbreaking” by the prime minister.

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat hailed this framework agreement as “groundbreaking” as it would help the ailing energy corporation, Enemalta, and shield consumers from unpredictable spikes in the international price of oil.

In that instance, the prime minister thanked Mr. Zeidan for his “lightning speed” rather than for being “astonishingly quick.”

And then, one day later:

Energy Minister Konrad Mizzi said today that it’s highly probable that Malta can buy oil products from Libya at preferential rates as from the beginning of next year.
