I agree with both. The Labour Party’s general state of mind was L-Ewwel Nirbhu Imbaghad Naraw – you can see that from their lack of preparation to govern – but there was also a plan to develop a power station and they had the company in place already. That was to provide the basis on which they would ensure their victory.

Whereas I am totally convinced that no power purchase and gas supply agreements have been signed yet – contrary to what was reported in Times of Malta but confirmed by Enemalta on its website and by a close analysis of facts – Electrogas has been given access to prime industrial land at Marsaxlokk. Even if they never build their power station, as long as they can hold on to that land, they’ve done a good deal.

Has anyone ever valued that land and informed the public about its value? It is effectively the government’s contribution to the project and part of why the government would be able to obtain a lower cost per unit of electricity.
