I totally agree with Jackie’s comment. How very disappointing!

One thing’s for sure – he’s happy to know all the variations of the word ‘sustainable’. I wish someone takes the trouble to count how many times he used it.

He was also vague, unconvincing and all in all PATHETIC, and that is why the whole thing must have been an act.

Whatever he said or did not say he was going to be approved.

Shame on the EU.

Those noble souls in the Nationalist Party led us into Europe and once in, they proceed to make a mockery of its institutions by having their MEPs approve arch-Mintoffian skunk Karmenu Vella. The appointment of someone like Il-Guy to the EU’s highest office perfectly illustrates why serious-thinking UK voters hold the EU in utter contempt. The UK are likely to vote to leave in 2017 and, frankly, who can blame them?

Karmenu Vella il-Guyana is going to be busy “reviewing, but not revising” the EU’s Birds Directive.

Maybe the Maltese government can send Justice Minister Dr. Owen Bonnici instead. He might suggest that rather than having China vetting the candidates in the 2017 Chief Executive elections, they postpone the elections altogether.

Karmenu Vella’s political life has been one of siding with the (presumed) winning side, and when his side proved to be a loser, he joined those who paid him well.

Those who employed him must have seen some merit in the man. Such terms as democracy could not have meant anything to him once he went along and enjoyed the benefits that the perverted electoral result of 1981 sent his way.

With such qualities he may be able to weather the storms ahead in Brussels.

The European Commission as well as the members of the European Parliament obviously do not give a fig about any of the traits you mentioned. If they did, there would not have been that prepared charade falsely known as ‘grilling’.

I am now convinced that all they care about is the lining of their pockets, and in the process, they occasionally throw bones or sounds of ‘democracy, transparency’ etc at us plebs.

Lest we forget. Way back in 1989, during the protests in China, il-Guy(ana) stood up in the Maltese Parliament and defended the Chinese government instead of condemning the violence perpetrated against the students.

And this is the Guy who said during his ‘grilling’ by the European Parliament that his beliefs are European, that is, freedom and democracy bla bla bla…
