It’s the wig and schoolboy smirk. I seriously think Alfred Sant is turning into something of an icon of himself. Like Salvador Dalì or David Bowie. He is the Never-Aging Living Retro. I like him, and I want to turn him into art work.

Do you think Alfred Sant will make a comeback as a ‘Leader zaghzugh?’

The funny thing is that Alfred Sant is looking younger than Joseph Muscat now.

Quite a few of the people sharing it are the same pseudo-artsy acquaintances who periodically grumble and moan about Malta’s uncultured populace and wanting to leave the country (without doing anything on either front, I might add).

A good number of them didn’t shy away from admitting they voted Labour during the last general elections. Now it’s back to grumbling about ‘the institutions’, ‘institutionalism’ and ‘so much for V-18’; no mention of ‘Labour’ or ‘the government’ in sight.

Well, what do these people expect when the same government they voted for appointed Jason Micallef chairman of the V-18? Funds were supposed to be used to promote what is there and open avenues for proper local cultural development. Instead, we got to have Micallef’s petty and narrow-minded fantasies brought to fruition.

While I share the sentiment expressed in the article, if I don’t want to live in this country it isn’t because of the fate of C215’s art, but because the people who voted in the people who allowed it to happen expected anything different.
