It has the best universities in the world, it has the biggest and most innovative companies in the world, it has the most advanced army in the world, it has done more for space exploration than anywhere else in the world, it is fully democratic and it is a beacon of light in the world.

When people anywhere feel oppressed, it is the United States they turn to for help. Even the United Nations headquarters are situated there.

Many citizens from all over the world would still happily cut off their left arm just to get the opportunity to live there.

The protests you link to are not protests for the basic right to vote like those in Hong Kong. Unlike in China, people are allowed to protest peacefully in the United States.

The current world order and all that is considered normal in the 21st century like democracy and the free market (even dictatorships try to put on a veneer of these things) come from the United States and the European Union.
