Looks like JPO took this opportunity to launch his general election campaign and now we know whose votes he’s after.

Muscat lost one star candidate and it seems he may have found a replacement albeit attracting a different type of voter.

Labour’s plans for yesterday’s edition of Xarabank have in part been successful. Rather than allowing the discussion to focus on the Manwel Mallia case – and hence on the political responsibility of Joseph Muscat and Kurt Farrugia which has not been carried so far – the programme degenerated into a confrontation with JPO.

Toni Abela was enjoying it: the less there was to defend about Mallia, Muscat, and Farrugia, the more he could sit quietly, saving the microphone and the cameras from a lot of spitting.

Labour was probably fearing that the programme would emphasise too much on Muscat’s and Farrugia’s responsibilities, so I can understand why the two of them must have concocted the plan to send JPO along with Toni.

Repeatedly, JPO has shown his ability to cause a TV debate to degenerate into one of insults and one-way aggression. Labour is using him for that purpose.

[Daphne – Effective tactics don’t set out to cause Y damage to avoid X damage, ciccio. Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando’s performance on Xarabank yesterday – indeed, the very fact that he was sent by them at all – caused the Labour Party a lot of harm to add to and compound the damage already done by the Mallia debacle. When people are saying that you’ve lost it, don’t send somebody along to prove it.]
