While the commissioner, Silvio Scerri and the minister knew that the Department of Information release contained a lie, it seems Kurt Farrugia, Ramona Attard and the PM only realised this after it had been released.

Of these latter three only one could have ordered a retraction.

Forgive me for asking but are we absolving the former judges here? This is a genuine question.

From out here with only the media for information, we have a rather good idea what happened and we can safely say that there is a political responsibility to be shouldered. So how come the judges reached a different conclusion?

I also do not agree that the heat and pressure are taken off Muscat. He and his sidekick Farrugia are responsible as much as Mallia is. In fact that is the problem. If he sacks Mallia he should resign himself.

Wonder of wonders. Kurt is off the hook. And let us not forget. Kurt is guilty = our Prime Minister is guilty.

A charade of an inquiry that only managed to conclude what was glaringly obvious and did not have the balls to properly and seriously ENQUIRE in any depth beyond that.

From Malta Today:

Head of government communications Kurt Farrugia was found to have acted correctly in his work and this was corroborated by the evidence presented.

The inquiry found that when both Farrugia and Mallia’s communications coordinator Ramona Attard were informed that the car had in fact been shot at, Attard called Mallia to immediately publish a correction of the original statement.

Mallia however replied that “we should first establish the facts and issue everything once the facts are clear”.

The board of inquiry did not ask Kurt whether he had informed his boss that night. So we’ll never know.
