Sergeant Lee Roy Balzan Engerer stands accused of deleting part of the police arrest report.

That is because his accusers don’t have the courage, decency and honesty to say that the real reason for his arrest is that they suspect him of leaking information to the media.

This is disgraceful.

Cyrus’s and Lee Roy’s used to be called ta’ Doddy and they lived at 106 St. Trophimus Street, Sliema.

As you said, Cyrus and Le Roy are cousins.

The Engerer family didn’t want Lee Roy’s mother Caroline to marry Balzan who is Lee Roy’s father, hence Lee Roy’s surname Balzan Engerer – because they considered him a hamallu.

However Caroline still married Balzan whose first name I cannot remember.

Id-Doddy and his entire family used to canvass for Michael Refalo and thanks to him, many of the Engerers were given jobs with various government departments over the years. Lee Roy’s father was employed as a messenger with the Minister of Tourism, then in Republic Street, Valletta.

Balzan, used to support the Malta Labour Party but because of his marriage to one of the Engerers together with the job he was given (he was illiterate) he said he voted for the Nationalist Party.

Lee Roy’s parents have been separated for a very long time for reasons unknown to me.

After many years of canvassing for Michael Refalo they turned on to Francis Zammit Dimech. Since they are a numerous family, together with their close friends, both Michael Refalo and Francis Zammit Dimech needed them in order to acquire their votes.

Caroline’s brother Albert, who died about two years ago, was very popular and charismatic and managed to persuade many people to vote for both those mentioned before. No wonder they got whatever they wanted from the government.
