Toward the end of the news reporting: “exchanged views on the Azerbaijan-Armenian conflict” read that Azerbaijan has asked Muscat’s government to side with it against Armenia.

Just like some Middle Eastern dictators feed militant Islamism in order to delay the democratization process, Aliyev uses his conflict with Armenia for the same purpose.

I noted the language used by the TV reporter, especially when reading out what President Ilham Aliyev had said to Joseph Muscat: a lot of words which have no concrete meaning, the sort of agreements where it is not clear what exactly has been agreed.
