Islam and Christianity have nothing to do with his policies, except to the extent that he can use or abuse them to further his aim for power over Russia, and if possible, over the same territory of the former USSR. Absence of freedom of expression was a hallmark of Soviet Communism, strangely enough echoed by mourners at the funeral of one of the victims to freedom of expression, described as “without responsibility”, by the victim himself.

Bringing this is in to explain freedom of speech and the responsible use of this right, only goes cloud the real issue.
