Since Labour has got to power parents have been feeling empowered and even encouraged to report directly to the Directorate and heads of school are simply ignored or bypassed and their authority challenged and weakened.

Heads do not find support from the Directorate and if there is a head who has the guts to face down the challenging behaviour of students, he is submitted to scrutiny as if he is at fault.

Under the previous government such behaviour was not permitted and parents were instructed to comply with the head’s orders.

After all that is why there is a head of school in the first place.

Just look at the way some Taghna Lkollers ignore parking restrictions. Or, look at the way the PM treats this country: a big piggy bank for him and his cronies.

This is a reflection of how they are running the country. Muscat has no respect towards the nation when he continues to ignore calls to publish the agreements with China, Azerbaijan, and Henley & Something.

How do you expect the students to respect their teachers when those who are running the country ignore the norms of simple decency and honesty?

One of Muscat’s electoral pledges was to build a new school every year, which probably was copied from the PN programme for the sake of including it.

We are caught in vicious circle. The government’s support base thrives on mediocrity and the lowest moral standards. The further standards are made to plummet by Labour, the more ‘liberated’ and ‘in’ Taghna Lkoll voters feel, in turn generating reinforced support for Labour’s ‘policies’.

Little wonder then that Muscat remains cocky and defiant as Labour repeatedly gets away with murder and he personally emerges unscathe time and time again.

Never has a political strategy in this country been so perverse. How very sad.
