While Labour has had a string of deficient leaders throughout its history, the PN has produced one formidable leader after the other.

I am very disillusioned by Busuttil’s performance so far. He dithers, has no empathy, no strategy, no oratory, no leadership, and most fundamentally, I do not even know what his values are.

Inevitably, PN will lose the next election, and will get a drubbing. It is to be noted that Muscat’s current lead over Busuttil is greater than the percentage that PN lost at the last election. And this is 23 months into the legislature when normally any government’s popularity as it its lowest.

In Malta it is an exceedingly common belief that if you criticize any aspect of something you are against the whole thing. Most people believe that if one voted for the Nationalists for example one should agree with every move and every speech each member makes.

This attitude is difficult to deal with in some places of work where one is expected to blindly support another person simply because of the way one votes, irrespective of that person’s actions.

Most criticism seems to degenerate into ‘tghajjir’, not in the sense of angry or loud only, but rather intent on causing offense and maximum damage, and therefore is seldom constructive.
