Well give his transport allowance to the National Archives and over the 5 years that’s nearly the amount they are looking for

Just to clarify: under the previous administration this transport allowance of 4,600 euros was payable to senior staff in ministerial secretariats in cases where their work required a fair amount of travel.

Officers receiving this allowance were expected to use their own cars and pay their own fuel, hence the all-inclusive allowance.

However, top secretariat posts at scale 3 and above (as per the Public Service salary grade structure) were entitled to the use of an official car (NOT a driver) and therefore did not receive this transport allowance. It as either/or.

Daphne, there is also the President of the Law Commission who has a state paid car and a full time chauffeur.
