For example when the film 2012 (portraying the end of the world) came out, many inhabitants of the Maltese islands didn’t even set foot out of their house on New Year’s Day 2012.

This is due to what wackos wrote on the internet in order to scare civilians who don’t understand that not everything on the internet is correct.
