The Security Council can vote to set up an ad hoc force made up of UN members’ troops.

“Other countries must send military into Libya” doesn’t read as statesmanlike, does it? But that’s exactly what our PM is asking for.

If he’s so worried about Libya he should apply for NATO membership forthwith. After all, the economy is doing fantastically well and we can afford to spend the minimum required on defence, can’t we?

BUT he is in favour of sending in the military regardless, not Maltese military of course, but he sees it fit to send others into a country where no one even seems to know who is fighting who and how many different sides there are in the conflict.

He would later of course be in the advantageous position to point to ‘interference’ from the ‘big bad west’ when/if anyone from Libya cries foul because it was not the Libyans who wanted the intervention.

Has he forgotten that it was his party’s leader who warned the Libyan dictator to retain the status quo?
