Nuxellina is not aggressive but she simpers a lot. At least that’s what she did to me. Simpered. And talked about her clothes shop. She has the mental age of a teenager. It was all I could do to tell her to run along and play with her Barbie.

Andrew Azzopardi, on the other hand, is gunning for pro-rector.

You like Oriental wisdom, don’t you? There’s a saying of Hafez’s about watching out for the tiger whose cubs are stolen. That, and the rabidly ambitious academic in love with himself.

Just for the record – they’re both hamalli, and they’re both rude.

Spot on re Andrew Azzopardi.

I can’t understand why Net had brought him on and why The Malta Independent insists on keeping him as a columnist.

His arguments are deficient in starting points, assumptions and logic.

There is a shocking vulgarity and an aggressive rudeness in Andrew Azzopardi that is totally incompatible with his academic position.

Note one thing: even on Twitter, he prefixes his name with “Dr”. It is therefore as an academic that he speaks. He speaks ex cathedra, literally.

You and I can swear all we like, because we speak in a personal capacity. Azzopardi cannot.

I cannot change anything unless I have the backing of the institutions. And I haven’t.

I’m not doing this to bring about some revolution. I just want the same standards to apply to everyone.

Why should people like Azzopardi constantly get away with their faults and rise through the ranks when you and I can have our careers destroyed by our bosses’ cavillousness?

I can point out the flaws till I’m red in the face, but if Azzopardi keeps his academic position, his radio and TV programmes, and keeps getting invited to give speeches as a pundit, it’ll hardly make a difference.
