It doesn’t reach the eyes, so when some women wish to fake a smile ‘effectively’, they try to make it reach the eyes by wrinkling them a little.

The result, in eyes shaped like Mrs Muscat’s (naturally downturned already), is the classic ‘crying eyes’ look which somebody on this thread described accurately as ‘wicc ta’ hniena u d-Duluri’.
