Those who know Engerer or have crossed his path know that he has no moral values and that he is dangerous and underhand, scheming and generally dishonest. And this apart from his criminal record – not that Mallia is going to be bothered by a criminal record.

Today we know that Joseph Muscat not only backs these traits, which is bad enough, but actually assimilates with these evil qualities having only a few days ago said that Engerer is an extension of himself and his double in Europe.

I would have expected Franco Debono, the paladin of what is righteous, to have stood up to defend the populace and spoken against this manifestly visible ‘inner circle of evil’.

But his silence has been bought, he is out of parliament and only interested in his car, chauffeur and ‘prestigious post’.

Probably the only person still holding enough clout to counteract Engerer is Manuel Mallia. Engerer knows this and true to form he will wriggle closer to Muscat and in conniving political pillow talk, will feed him all the misinformation he can muster to the detriment of Mallia. Not that Mallia helps himself.

Back-stabbing is something Engerer excels in; many know this through direct experience.

As Cyrus Engerer knows his Brussels job is only available as long as the MLP is in power, he will want to wrestle Mallia’s ‘star candidate’ sceptre away from him, and having no morals he will be prepared to do it in any way possible, securing a place in Parliament and a cushy pension well above that of us lesser mortals.

Muscat, on the other hand, may be playing the Engerer card to keep Mallia in check particularly after the latter threatened him with a ‘kontroll attakk’.

Whichever way one looks at it, to Muscat, Engerer and Mallia are of limited use.

Interestingly, while Engerer may see Mallia as a sitting duck and Mallia may not rate Engerer as any more valuable than a side-mirror, marking him clearly as one criminal he would hate to defend, the puppet master, immersed in cunning and duplicity, plans his future moves while pulling the strings of his devious dolls.
