And that's also why they all chomp their food. If you didn't, you were bourgeoisie and you were shot.

Whether the Chinese students have money or not is irrelevant. It takes more than money in one generation to change a value system. Practically all Chinese people alive today are working-class because the old bourgeoisie and the upper classes were systematically eliminated in the Cultural Revolution. That's exactly why you have all that bling-bling materialism.

Look, if your sole aim in popping in is to pick a fight in defence of China, don't bother. It's like a religion to you, so expecting anything rational is out of the question.

The Chinese students do it for reassurance too. Both the impoverished Maltese working-class immigrants in Australia and the rich Chinese working-class students in Britain were/are wrong to cling to each other for reassurance. That is my point.

It's not because they are Chinese. It's because they are working-class, uncultured and frightened of anything foreign despite being there, as a result of their isolation. The common factor is not nationality but social background, isolation and an unwillingness to make the effort to learn the language and integrate, mainly due to fear of the strangeness.

The Maltese working-class no longer has that problem on emigration, because its members are no longer as isolated as they were. And consequently, Maltese people no longer hang around in ghettos, nor do they cling together at British universities.

Ah, our China-worshipper. You're back.

Maltese immigrants in Canada, the US and Australia: that wasn't because they were Maltese, but because they were working-class people who didn't speak English and didn't understand the native customs, so clung together for reassurance.

Just like the Chinese people we're talking about here: same difference.
