She doesn’t have to be Lorry Sant. Killing one person doesn’t make you Adolf Hitler, but it’s still murder and you’ll still go to prison for a long, long time.

Understand human nature: when somebody hangs on to their one, specific ministerial portfolio for years beyond their use-by date, using all kinds of leverage to avoid removal, you know that the reasons they want to stay are not entirely savoury.

But she is denying any wrong doing – so one must wait and see. I do not think Debono is capable of any wrong doing, and if so, I will feel very bad should it be true. She is no Lorry Sant!

He’s not emerging as a saviour, and the problems with Giovanna Debono should have been tackled a long, long time ago.

No single person should have been permitted to become that entrenched in a ministerial fiefdom, using her clout over the electoral base as leverage against removal.

The situation was ripe for abuse.

But how can you be certain? This it not like the Swiss Leaks files. In this case no evidence has been provided. Knowing how this government operates I do not exclude anything. This is the ‘earthquake’ Muscat wanting to bring, total distrust and destruction of all state institutions, in order for him to emerge as a saviour.

They would be ready to sell their very own mother and never mind their country – for power and money. Ugh!

And in the hypothetical but possible case of Giovanna Debono’s husband is cleared, who would have to bear the price for the lies and false accusations?

Would Balzan be accused of false reporting? Would Giovanna Debono and her husband be financially rewarded for the massive hurt, stress, character assassination attempt and loss of credibility?

What about the prime minister’s responsibility in picking up Balzan’s story for his own end?

And shouldn’t Muscat have resigned following the Café Premier scandal revelations considering that in monetary terms the Café Premier scandal is about 20 times more than the purported Gozo one especially when the Café Premier scandal has the signature of the Auditor General and the Gozo one has no real signature at all?

In the meantime the likes of Giovanna Debono are only weakening Simon Busuttil and the Nationalist Party.

Anyone of the old guard who has been economical with the truth and less than honest must step down immediately.

They must do so because it is the correct thing to do and because otherwise they are only giving further ammunition to Muscat.

At the same time I wonder if, for every one scandal that is uncovered, there are 10 others that we will never get to know about.

Just walk down Republic Street and into the cafes on a Christmas eve and you’ll see it all in front of you.

You see, it is not just corruption that stinks and that triggers the rot we see today in the Nationalist Party. It is also the double faced attitudes and loyalties of some at its very heart, who are investing in Simon Busuttil’s failure because of their own failures and inabilities.

Time to expose them for what they are and to give them the boot.
