No, you didn’t understand correctly – but you can’t be blamed for that because they are all saying different things deliberately to mislead.

Queen Mary University will NOT be building a new hospital on Gozo. Why on earth would it do that?

It will be using Gozo General Hospital, which in itself will create a problem for the hospital and a problem for the students because there aren’t enough patients there for them to learn on.

No, you don’t really have a clearer picture. The government is not planning to spend money on upgrading Gozo General Hospital, St Luke’s and Karin Grech hospitals.

It is planning to issue a call for expressions of interest, in 10 days’ time, asking whether anybody is interested in spending 200 million euros on doing that themselves.

They’ve probably already sold out to the Chinese or some other funny outfit and the ‘expressions of interest’ process is just a cover as it was with the gas-fired power station.

In reply to J Sammut. Rather the reverse, I would say. Reading through all the objections this morning that were put up to the deal last year, it is clear that one of the main problems is that Gozo General Hospital is far too small to serve as a teaching hospital.

Obviously not. It’s a private medical school for fee-paying students. The government of Malta has absolutely nothing to do with it beyond allowing them to use Maltese state hospital facilities – on what basis, we do not yet know.

Somehow I doubt the Medical School has been consulted.

Fearne, the way I hear it, knows it all (including knowing about bread-making and breast-feeding) and from its past, Labour sees the Malta Medical School as a reminder of the way they (Labour) don’t get on with academics, in any way manner or form.

It’s money before all else. If anyone complains they’ll just buy their silence. That’s the new modus operandi.
