When Mrs. Muscat emerged from the principal’s office with her entourage and camera crew following her, it was break-time and many pupils were drawn to what appeared to them to be a celebrity.

When she started dispensing Maltese paper flags and visiting cards with her autograph, the excitement grew into a frenzy. Most of those pupils didn’t have any idea who she was.

And what about consent from those pupils’ parents for the use of their image? They are on school premises, not a public place.

When she is spoken of alone, the first reference should be to ‘Michelle Muscat’, with all subsequent references being to ‘Mrs Muscat’.

When she is spoken of in the same context as her husband, it’s ‘the Prime Minister and Mrs Muscat’, with all subsequent references being to ‘Mrs Muscat’.

A prime minister’s wife is never ‘Ms’, more so when so much is made of the fact that she is ‘the spouse of the prime minister’.

Did the students prepare ‘verses’ with meter or rhyme or sentences?

The head of school ‘conveyed’ to be honoured… the term is not illegal but it certainly does not sound right.

The Prime Minister’s spouse is mentioned four times by name and surname.

Is there a reason that her first name is not dropped after the first mention, as is usually done?

I cannot put my finger on what is most irritating in the piece except for the fact that when I read it, it sounded as if it was a bad translation to English from a Chinese piece.
