The main problem is that politics has turned into a team sport. Ideally the people would hold the government, irrespective of party, on their toes. Instead it's always PL vs PN. The politicians love this as they always have a large following of die hard fans on their side.

As Baxxter said above, people need to lean to criticise their own party first. It would be a great accomplishment if even half the electorate were able to do that.

Good comment until the last 2 sentences. In the last Gonzi administration the Maltese had all reasons (made up and fed by the PL propaganda machine) to go to the streets and oust the government.

That administration was perceived as arrogant, corrupt, inept and "marbuta mas-siggu tal-poter". But at the end of the day it was backbenchers, incentivised by the Opposition, who brought down the government.

It was a democratic vote, taken in an election called democratically by the administration of the day after months of political stagnation, which changed he party in government.

A small percentage of the voters attended "demonstrations" held by the Opposition, almost everybody complained at the grocers and with friends but in general life went on as usual.

And although many hoped that Gonzi dropped from government in a spectacular manner, nobody took to the streets to make this happen.

Life in Malta is too good. Maltese complain - typical gemgem - but at the end of the day Maltese live a serene life in peace with low criminality.

Maltese watch foreign news and exclaim how good life is in Malta. Maltese have it good and they will wait until the next election to oust a party from government.

Politics is a subject to discuss, even argue, but alien to the Maltese household in the sense that the Maltese do not relate directly to what the governments do unless this effects them directly like electricity and fuel bills.

Therefore the Maltese will exclaim and even proclaim but no action will be taken before the next election.

So who will take to the streets and forcefully demand the ousting of this government?

Even the Opposition, who demand the government resignation every other minutes, know that this will only happen come next election with a democratic vote.

Very few realise how bad this administration is and the majority are "comfortably numb".

Can you do it? This is why we need to get behind Simon Busuttil and not snap at his heels and help Joseph Muscat gnaw at him.

He has had the courage and of course ambition to put himself forward, so we need to give him the encouragement he needs to weed out those people who are more at home with Labour.

Even if it means that there will be less people within the Nationalist Party, but hopefully a strong, honest core will attract the good people of this country.

However, if the good people in this country are not in the majority we are doomed anyway.

Whom are we going to believe, Premier Muscat or Cornered Mizzi?

Was it direction or encouragement?

Then we have also 'direct ministerial intervention'.

Why don't they tell the truth and call a spade a spade? Was it a lightly veiled order to do business with SOCAR?

Why can't someone come out and lead the brave, law-abiding citizens of this country to stand up and eradicate this political system and put back the rule of law at the heart of this country?

Fifty years of independence to get this long list of idiots to ruin our country with their greed.

Why can't we stop this duopoly of idiots and bring a real change to our electoral system and Constitution?

Why can't we stand up and stop this endless mediocrity?

To hell with this establishment of frauds, Freemasons and egocentric, corrupt, opportunistic assholes who keep eating on the naivety of those who, every five years, keep hoping the next breed will be less scummy than the previous one.

Isn't there enough evidence that we need to change this?
